The ABCs of skin care

What should you use and when? Here is a quick guide:

Vit A (retinoids) –
Encourage cellular turnover, new collagen, keratinolysis and vascularisation of tissue to assist with pigment reduction, fine lines, improved texture and acne. Can make you dry and irritated, as well as photosensitive so only use at night time in the concentration recommended by your clinician.

Vit B (e.g. niacinamides) –
A restorative vitamin that can help promote cellular integrity, repair DNA damage, improve hydration and protect from UV damage. May also have antibacterial effects making it a must for acneic, inflamed, damaged and dry skins. Can be used morning and night

Vit C (ascorbic acid) –
A potent antioxidant that protects the skin against intrinsic and extrinsic (sun) damage. Also helps to brighten skin by regulating the action of tyrosinase (enzyme that converts melanin). Perfect in the AM under your sunscreen.

SPF –
Just do it. Daily! In 10 years you will be glad you started today.

Stayed tuned for the elusive Vit G. A lovely nutrient for life and psyche.
