I first started noticing wrinkles in my early-mid 20s. Admittedly, I was post night shift, studying, renovating and stressed, but still, after a life of sun abuse, poor water intake and a love for wine, they were there! Fortunately for me, I quickly sought out my first treatment of anti-wrinkle….and never did I lapse a day since (not entirely true, but I have been consistent).

Number 1 for wrinkle treatment… not surprisingly perhaps… is ANTI-WRINKLE. We cannot discuss product names herein but basically these products are derived from a toxin that helps to relax muscles. No skin creasing = no wrinkle formation is the basic premise. If you are young (and less young) anti-wrinkle is a great place to start in the fight against wrinkles. That said… it may not completely remedy deeper lines.

In order to treat these bad boys there is often a degree of rebuilding and/or restructuring of the wrinkle trough that needs to occur. So number 2 + 3 for wrinkle treatments are RESURFACING THERAPIES such as skin needling (dermapen) or laser which intensively encourage skin rebuilding; and REVOLUMISING AGENTS such as dermal filler which places a hyalauronic acid-based structure underneath a wrinkle groove to prop it up. Alternatively PDO threads have recently exploded onto the scene and as well as adding volume in the form of dissolvable suture material, they also encourage mass collagen production. Great for deeper lines and wrinkles in tricky-to-treat places.

Of course a quiet number 4 is a good home care regime which includes a retinoid (vitamin A) based product +/- alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) that help to target fine lines in their early stages by increasing skin turnover and a silk pillow case! Those vertical lines on the side of your face… they are from sleeping in most instances!
